Да, очень атмосферная и трогательная картинка! Прямо чувствуется его усталость и даже уязвимость, которую он никому не позволяет увидеть...

In the musical Jesus Christ Superstar, there's a song by Mary Magdalen about Jesus Christ that came to mind seeing this..."He's a Man...he's just a man..." The song is about how she loves him and is afraid to at the same time, and honestly...I think it's perfect.  What you've captured here is his loneliness, but also his...contentment with it.  And he IS just a man, a powerful man with work on that damned nightstand that needs doing, but...a man.  And he knows it, you know he does.  And that makes him both pitiable, and so...content.  It's why he can be Patrician without abusing the power.  he knows his limits, knows he's mortal...and when the day is done, he needs to relax and loo at the place he has given up everything for.  The lady who stole his heart, and barely acknowledges his love...
Now I need to write a fan-fic, thanks.  Oh well, this is amazing, and as usual I find myself envying your talent.  But I shall definitely be waiting and watching for more Vetinari and Vimes stuff.

Your comment sounds like a poem, you so wonderful wrote about Vetinari-man, and I have nothing to add! Thank you for such words.
Pratchett's books are excellent  because they have an interesting plot, there are great sense of humour and vivid characters. But always behind this are visible real people with their small dramas and joys, and Vetinari is no exception, just his burden is voluntary, although very high.

Precisely.  I adore Vetinari AND Vimes for this reason.  They, like Granny Weatherwax, have chosen to take on their burdens.  Vetinari willingly became Patrician, Vimes came out of brief retirement...it makes them the most complex and vivid of Sir Terry's characters, in my view.  Vetinari and Vimes...they're almost just two sides of the same man, the same soul.  And frankly, I think that might be why I like/love them so much.  Besides Vetinari's inherent sexiness, of course.
I realized the other day, when I realized my sixteenth birthday is in April, that I've been obsessed with Discworld since I was eight.  I've spent half my life obsessed with this series, and don't regret one second of it.  I fell in love with the world, with the characters, with the style...with Discworld.  I have my favorites, of course, like Vetinari and Vimes...but these books have shaped who I am, what and how I think, and have helped me through difficult and terrifying days.

I thank you on the writing.  I should put some of my fan-fics here on DA...I might not update often, but I do love to write about Vetinari and Vimes, and I think I'm good at it...Vetinari comes out more emotional than he should, but usually that's because he's talking to Vimes, and I fast-forward a few years...
I love writing, and I would like to think that my thoughts are poetic, though I can't write actual poetry to save my life.  Thank you.

Oh my god you are a genius!!!!! I hope to see lots more staggering and beautiful art from you! ^^ Your Vetinari is perfection, and I really would love to see more Vimes/Vetinari as well ;-D (if Pratchett won't give us LGBTQ+ romance, we'll make our own ^^)

Thank you! I think I'll draw Vimes and Vetinari for a long time. Pratchett gave as a beautiful world and I would hope that he will not offended by our fantasy. :D (Big Grin)

I hope he wouldn't be ^^ He mentions the possibility of LGBTQ people a couple of times, but the issue is that none of his main characters are LGBTQ. Sally and Angua could have been a wonderful romance. Carrot has no conflict, drive, flaws-in other words, no interest. Tiffany was great-but another straight person. And everyone else. Granny, Moist, Rincewind, Adora, William, Sacharissa, Ridcully-everyone. And Vimes and Vetinari have such a fascinating relationship. I wish they had the romance, and that Sybil remained a main character (because she's wonderful) but just not in a romance with Vimes.

I love the way you show the lonelyness, but also the humanity of the character...

God, that is eerily spot-on from my imagination, even with the more...worn expression. His facial features are not only good, they seem to belong to a real human being you've just happened to catch in painting and not just a character, if that makes sense outside my head. The use of 'soft' block shadows and highlights, along with the texture, really gives it a wonderful and somewhat melancholic atmosphere.
I am no art critic, I have no hope of giving constructive feedback on this, but I just wanted to say I enjoy it very much and not only for the fact that it's the Partrician. So, thank you for sharing.
Oh, yeah - I love the feet, for some reason, especially their position :)

I am currently reading a lot of Pratchett's books, and think a lot about how the characters live in those moments that are not described there. And gradually these heroes become more vivid for me, less sketchy than in the beginning, with very specific features of the face and physical characteristics, thay become acquaintances, recognizable and I'm trying to portray it somehow. Thank you!
